Primary Application Procedure

  1. The school is observed by the parents if classes are in session.
  2. An application for enrollment with an application fee is submitted to the school. Applications will be accepted after September 15 of the year before the child will enroll. The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
  3. Interviews of the child and parents will be conducted for the purpose of familiarizing the family with the Montessori School of Evergreen, assessing if the child is ready to begin school and class placement. These usually take place in March and April
  4. Notification of acceptance will be sent or done in person. Class placement will be determined by the director.
  5. Registration is secured upon receipt of the registration form and accompanying non-refundable tuition deposit. This must be received within two weeks of acceptance.
  6. The majority of children begin school in the fall with some starting at the summer session. Children are accepted during the school year if openings arise.


Primary Enrollment Policy

  1. Children from 2.5 to 4 years of age who are toilet trained are eligible for enrollment. Three years of age is an ideal time for a child to begin. Older students, including Montessori transfers, are accepted in certain circumstances when space is available.
  2. The Montessori program is based on a three year cycle. We strongly recommend that children remain in the program for three years and complete it with participation in the Extended Day class the final year. Higher consideration is given to those applicants who will remain in a Montessori school through Extended Day.
  3. Children will be accepted on the basis of the following factors:
    • Preference is given to siblings of children currently or previously enrolled in the school.
    • Secondary preference is given to children transferring from Montessori schools.
    • Age and sex of the children will be considered in order to attain a balanced class.
    • A demonstrated interest of the parents in the school and a commitment to the Montessori philosophy will be considered.
    • Acceptance of a balance of children who will leave MSE after the Extended Day year and those staying for the Elementary and Middle School program.
    • Carpool arrangements will also be a factor.
  4. If parents choose not to enroll a child after acceptance, the child can be placed on the waiting list for the next year at the parents' request. This does not guarantee future enrollment or put the child at an advantage in being accepted the following year.
  5. MSE admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
  6. Handicapped children and those with special needs are accepted at MSE if the director, teacher and parents feel the child's needs can be met within the MSE setting.
  7. Enrollment in the Preschool/Extended Day program does not guarantee that a child will be accepted for the MSE elementary program.

A late charge of $50.00 will be applied to accounts over 30 days past due. A service fee of 11% per annum will be charged on accounts over 60 days past due.
